Renown Health Group, a nonprofit healthcare network in the state of Nevada, will open their new South Reno clinic in the spring of 2017. This clinic, which will be located in the Summit Mall, is designed to be customizable, scalable, and comfortable for its patients. The waiting room is set up much like a living room would be with comfortable couches and chairs for those waiting for their doctor’s appointment.
With the future state of healthcare hazy due to the election of Donald Trump and Republican majorities in the House and Senate, the leaders of Renown Health are keeping their options open on what additional services they will add to this location. Dr. McCormack is the Medical Director of the company. He said that with the uncertainty surrounding the Affordable Care Act he didn’t want to commit to more services until there is clarity in the healthcare industry. Once these matters are sorted out the clinic could offer more services as it has been designed to be a very flexible space.
Renown Health Group operates in Northern Nevada. They have clinics throughout the area and also operate Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno which provides medical and surgical services. They also own and operate Renown Children’s Hospital, Renown Institute for Neurosciences, Renown Institute for Heart & Vascular Health, and the Renown Institute for Cancer.
It was in 1862 that Renown Institute was established after an outbreak of smallpox in the region. They established their first hospital soon after, in 1864. They have accomplished a lot of milestones over the years at Renown Health including being the just the fourth hospital in the world to perform robotic surgery using the da Vinci Xi. Additionally, their children’s hospital is part of the Children’s Miracle Network of Hospitals. The President of Renown Health is Dr. Anthony Slonim who specializes in internal medicine and pediatrics.
