A Review Of Yanni Hufnagel’s Successful Career As An Assistant Coach

Yanni Hufnagel grew up in Scarsdale. While in high school, he did not make it to the varsity basketball team. The resident of Boston is pursuing a career that will make him rich before long.

The 30-year-old is not a banker, lawyer or doctor. Under his leadership as an assistant basketball coach, Harvard emerged the winners of the Ivy League for their first time. In addition, they produced Jeremy Lin, a couch-surfing basketball success. By virtue of his accomplishments, Yanni Hufnagel has become one of the youngest sought after coaches in the country.

The closest person to a Jewish-American Player in the NBA is Amar’e Stoudemire. However, for one to coach college basketball, he/she does not have to be athletic or tall. In its Division-1 ranks, Jewish Coaches Association has around 30 coaches. Hufnagel and Josh Pastner, the University of Memphis coach, are some of the promising coaches of the Jewish descent. In 2011, after having surveyed over 100 coaches, a CBS Sports report named Yanni Hufnagel the best assistant coach under the mid-major school category. These coaches posited that Hufnagel would be a successful coach owing to his recruiting ability while Pastner was a relentless recruiter in college basketball. An assistant coach in college basketball is expected to schmooze with coaches, be a recruiter, be experienced in high school text messaging and be ready to spend an entire summer in the gym. This information was originally mentioned on Tablet Magazine.

Yanni graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial and Labor relations from the esteemed Cornell University. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Adult and Higher Education focusing on Intercollegiate Athletic Administration from Oklahoma. Hufnagel was Harvard’s assistant coach between 2009 and 2013.

From 2013 to 2014, Yanni Hufnagel (Facebook) was the assistant coach of Vanderbilt. During his time as the assistant coach of California, Yanni recruited a consensus top five recruiting class. It featured McDonald’s All-American Ivan Rabb and Jaylen Brown. This class was ranked fifth nationally by both 247 sports and ESPN, fourth by Rivals and second by Scout.com.
