One of the underrated activities in society is philanthropy. For one thing, there are a ton of benefits that come from philanthropy, and they are not all towards the recipients. The philanthropists get as much benefits if not more. For one thing, there are a lot of people who live comfortably. However, they are not entirely happy with their lives. A lot of people find that they have a lot of issues that they can’t figure out with their satisfaction in their lives. People struggle with feelings with worthlessness. However, it is the people that move towards philanthropic activities that find reasons to be happy.
Among these people that get involved with philanthropy is Betsy DeVos. She has experienced the great feelings that come with helping others in ways that are meaningful. Among the ways that she has helped people involves education. A lot of people are born in bad circumstances and they are left with having to go to schools in these dangerous communities. Some parents do everything they can to make sure that their children are getting education in better environments. Betsy DeVos has seen these parents and have felt compassion for these other parents as well as those that are unable to do anything about the circumstances of their children. Check this article from NYPost.
Betsy DeVos has not only helped these children and experienced great feelings of achievement, but she has also run for office in order to push forward a new type of initiative called School Choice. This allows parents to be able to choose the schools that their children can go to without having to move districts or pay extra money for attendance. Instead, the government is going to fund the choice so that the parents will have an easier time getting their child into higher quality education.
When it comes to solving an issue, the best approach to take is by going to the root. Betsy DeVos has seen issues in communities. The issue is poverty. She has also seen the root of the issue which is poor quality education. Therefore, she has done a lot of work with her husband in order to bring forth the necessary changes. Follow Betsy on Twitter
There is always a need for fundraisers. However, gathering the funds takes a lot more skill than one would imagine. People who take an interest in raising funds often find that there is much more to it than talking about an issue and asking for money. One has to be able to persuade and convince people. Few people have that ability. Among the people that have this is Andrea McWilliams. She has the charisma that is needed for people to actually take the time and put money forward on the initiative that they are trying to bring forth.
One thing that makes Andrea McWilliams effective is that she is upfront and honest with people. She is also involved in the activities that she is passionate about. For instance, she is passionate about breast cancer. Given her passion, she can answer almost any question that is asked her of breast cancer. At the same time, when she is presented with a question that she does not know how to answer, she will be honest and let people know. At the same time, she will assure people that are interested so that they will know that they are giving to a good cause.
One of the most important factors in getting someone to participate in a fundraiser is providing a lot of information. Many people have seen that some fundraisers are not upfront. Therefore, people are wiser when it comes to the type of fundraisers that they are involved in. People participate in fundraisers because they want to feel as if they are making meaningful contributions to the lives of others. People want to feel like they are actually thoughtful. One of the best ways to raise confidence and self-esteem is by contributing to a good cause. Andrea McWilliams is really good at showing and building confidence.
The last television viewers saw of Anson Mount, he was traveling across the Pacific Ocean at the closing moments of the final episode of Hell on Wheels. Mount, a fantastic actor, is returning to television quicker than many imagined. Mount is slated to star as Black Bolt, the superhero who hold The Inhumans team together. The Inhumans may have been canceled as a movie project, but the concept comes to television on ABC.
The move to television seems to be a wise move. The Inhumans would be competing with The Guardians of the Galaxy, The Avengers, and The X-Men. The Inhumans are not exactly “A-list” heroes. Putting the team on television is a wise move. So is casting Mount in such a vital role. During his run on the AMC western, Mount displayed he could handle both action and complex drama with great skill. While Hell on Wheels was not a massive hit with the ratings, the program maintained a strong cult following. Hopefully, fans of his previous series will migrate to The Inhumans and help the show become a success when it debuts.
Likely, the popularity of superhero TV shows will still be strong when The Inhumans appears on the ABC lineup. In time, Marvel and DC Comics are going to lose their box office and ratings appeal. That time seems to be quite far off. For now, fans of superhero movies and television programs can be thrilled about all the new products emerging from the creative pipeline. The Inhumans is one of the newest — and most interesting — to emerge.
Warren Buffet has been known of his awareness to the many mediocre and expensive funds that shortchange most investors. This has seen him commit to low cost and simple investments whose returns are expected on the long-term basis.
Mr. Warren Buffett uses the bottom-top approach while investing, where he carefully analyzes companies’ durable portfolio.
According to Timothy Armour, industries as well as consumers should be cautious of different product labels. This should be due to the intra-industry active and passive argument that is unbecoming to the investors. Per his view, mutual funds are known to give poor returns in the long run mostly because of issues such as management fee imposition as well as excessive trading. On top of this, there is a high volatility risk and opportunity cost of passive index investments, which are mostly understated.
Armour argues that the market sell-off that happened in September was due to the retarded growth of the U.S. economy, as per the investors’ expectations. He thinks that the Fed will still need to go raise rates, as near-zero interest rates led to investors taking undue risk.
He also agrees with Trump that interest rates had been declining much, to an extent of hitting the bottom. He thinks that Trump will end the “new normal” era of sluggish economic growth and subdued interest rates in the country. Recently, Timothy was quoted saying that the company had plans to co-design investment solutions with Samsung to fulfill the savings, retirement and insurance-linked needs of the Korean investors. This will give Capital Group a better position in the Korean Market.
Children’s movies are not known as Oscar bait. Animated movies have their own category and are rarely, if ever, even in the discussion for outright Best Picture nominations. Live-action movies meant for a younger audience are often sillier and contain simpler themes than their adult counterparts. This doesn’t make them bad, but they are often not the type of product that garners Oscar recognition.
That didn’t make it any less surprising to hear that 2017 was the first ever Oscar win for a movie in the Harry Potter universe.
For the uninformed, there have now been nine Harry Potter movies: the eight in the original series and 2016’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The first eight films grew darker and more adult as the series wore on, but none ever grabbed an Oscar win.
The movies were collectively nominated a number of times in previous years for Academy Awards in varying categories: Best Original Score, Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, Best Cinematography, etc. None had ever won though, until now. Fantastic Beasts was nominated for Costume Design thanks to Colleen Atwood, herself a past Oscar nominee for other films. Atwood and the Harry Potter world took home the win. It was Atwood’s fourth gold statue but Harry’s first.
As the Harry Potter series continues on with more sequels and offshoots, it remains to be seen if it will ever win another Oscar. However, it was nice to see a beautifully depicted film like Fantastic Beasts rewarded for its hard work. And it was nice to hear that this J.K. Rowling lady finally caught a break for once!
The troubled world of the DC Comics Extended Universe has been on the receiving end of some consistently worrisome news. Patty Jenkins, the director of Wonder Woman, has delivered some positive news. She has given her stamp of approval to the selection of Matt Reeves as the new director of The Batman. Reeves is also receiving creative control over the project, a move that allows Reeves the ability to bring forth his creative vision to the screen.
Jenkin’s opinion carries a lot of weight with fans. Wonder Woman is shaping up to be the best of the DCEU movies. After a series of disappointments, DC fans want to see a critical hit. Wonder Woman may be that big hit.
The Batman, however, had many people worried. Star Ben Affleck was supposed to direct, but he bowed out for mysterious reasons. The filming of The Justice League films is rumored to be troubled. The script has not received positive marks. Reshoots are supposedly taking place.
A disastrous Batman film would be catastrophic for DC Comics and Warner Bros. Batman is the top franchise character as evidenced by the success of the three Dark Knight films. Ruining Batman with another bad film — Batman v. Superman was a dud — could undermine the entire future for movies based on D.C. Comics.
The right creative talent with the right vision is needed for a film to succeed. Hopefully, Reeves will bring this to The Batman. As many have stated before, D.C. Comics and Warner Bros. positively must get their extended universe franchise on the right track.
Iron Fist is coming to Netflix. The martial arts hero debuts in his own series and then returns in the forthcoming Defenders series. Speculation among long-time comic book fans swirls around whether or not Netflix will launch a Heroes for Hire series with Iron Fist and Luke Cage. Finn Jones, the star and title character of Iron Fist, has noted he would really enjoy teaming with Luke Cage on Netflix. He would even like to see a Daughters of Dragon spinoff series, another wing of the Marvel Comics martial arts canon.
The original reason Luke Cage and Iron Fist teamed up in the comic books was neither was able to maintain decent sales figures in solo titles. Back in the 1970’s, Marvel Comics was always trying to debut new characters that would sell solid amounts — well over 100,000 copies — monthly. Teaming Luke Cage and Iron Fist up in a single book was a formula for success. Netflix does not need to team them, but doing so could create a very interesting 10-episode series.
Netflix may be part of the overall Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the world of Netflix heroes seems to be turning into its own entity. The gritty nature of the Netflix programs definitely has created a unique identity. Expanding the world of Netflix programs to hero team ups and martial arts programs could be the logical progression of this world. The one stumbling block here is Netflix does not want to produce too many Marvel programs per year. Time will tell how far the Netflix universe expands.
This came after an interviewer broached the idea of that movie getting a sequel. Kebbell’s quick, humorous response: “I won’t be in it!”
His reasons for wanting the transfer were somewhat odd. He seemed notably more interested in his own character, the mad scientist/sorcerer/dictator Victor von Doom, getting to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe than the titular superhero team.
“Listen, Doom is an incredible bad guy, they just keep trying to force him into the Fantastic Four, you know?” he said. “They just need to move it out, ’cause he smashes up Thor and Iron Man, all them. They get wasted.”
While Doom does battle other heroes in the comics, he is forever tied to the Fantastic Four as their arch-nemesis. In particular he has an intense rivalry with Richard Reed, the team’s leader and one of the few people who can rival Doom’s own intelligence.
The 2015 Fanastic Four was a famously awful movie; created mostly so that Fox would not have to return the rights to Marvel, it changed numerous elements from the comics. Many feel it was trying to be more of a sci-fi/horror film than a superhero movie. The result was panned as boring and nonsensical. (Kebbell’s costume as Doctor Doom was also notably awful.)
Marvel Studio’s Kevin Feige recently noted that Fox was unlikely to sell their other major Marvel property, X-Men, back to Marvel Studios. Fans still hope that Fantastic Four, having been less profitable for Fox, may have a chance, though Feige also noted that Marvel has a very detailed plan in place even without such franchises.
In most cases, it has always been noted that work experience has played a major role in shaping a person’s success. Warren Beatty seemed to be the only one who knew something was wrong.
When it took Beatty too long to read out the winner of the Oscar’s ultimate award, Best Picture, the crowd grew restless. They assumed it was some kind of shtick. Even Faye Dunaway, his co-presenter, thought he was being a kook. When Beatty turned to Dunaway for help in his moment of need, instead of conversing on what should be done, she blurted out exactly what he was afraid to say.
In the aftermath of reading out the wrong winner for Best Picture, instead of the brunt of the criticism falling on Dunaway, or even more accurately, the accountants responsible for the distribution of the award envelopes, it was Beatty who was forced to weather the storm.
It was Beatty who remained on stage to attempt to explain the snafu while Dunaway scampered away, never to be heard from again. It was Beatty who wanted to tell the audience what had happened, while the envelope masters never ventured onto the stage or toward a microphone. And in a blatant case of killing the messenger, it was Beatty who was blamed for the wrong movie crew coming on stage as the winner of Best Picture.
We have since been told of everything that supposedly happened, but Beatty seems to remain in the cross hairs of critics, and it makes no sense. He is now calling for an official word to be released by the academy of motion pictures to settle this incident once and for all. It’s not for the public as much as himself. This wasn’t on Beatty; he was the only one who felt something was afoot in the first place.
